Why Affirmations Don’t Work: The Hidden Truth About Healing

I want to share something with you….Why affirmations don’t work is something I had to discover through my own healing journey.

At the beginning of my healing journey, I kept hearing the same advice: just think positive, say affirmations, write affirmations, just be happy…so I tried. I repeated positive thoughts. I wrote affirmations, I was repeating them every morning, even throughout the day like a parrot. Lol. I tried to force myself to feel better, and on the outside, I looked happy. I smiled. I pretended I was fine, but reality is that I was disconnected from my self, because I was in avoidance. Even though my mind was trying to stay positive, my body was holding stress, tension, emotional pain, anxiety, anger, self doubt…etc. My heart felt guarded, and deep down I knew I was living against what my body and heart were trying to tell me, but I refused to admit it.

I also realized that real self-confidence cannot exist when we are disconnected from our body and heart. I was trying to appear strong, happy and confident while abandoning and lying to myself what I truly felt inside. That was one of the hardest realizations for me.

It took me years to truly understand the connection between the body, mind, and heart. Healing doesn’t happen only through words or positive thinking. It happens when we begin listening to the body, regulating the nervous system, opening the heart gently, and creating safety within ourselves. That changed everything for me.

Slowly, I began reconnecting with myself through breath, movement, awareness, nervous system work, emotional release, heart-opening practices, and learning how the mind repeats what heart needs to heal and the body stores what the mind tries to ignore.

Lately, I was thinking what I can do to raise awareness about this, and I’ve decided to created a free Telegram private group Open Heart Sundays.

Every Sunday, we’ll come together for a short guided practice to reconnect with ourselves, open the heart, regulate the nervous system, and create more awareness within the body.

This space is for people who are:

  • feeling disconnected from themselves
  • carrying stress, anxiety, anger, overwhelm, or emotional heaviness
  • craving deeper peace and connection
  • wanting to open and connect to their heart in a safe and grounded way

Inside the group, I’ll be sharing:
✨ heart-opening reflections
✨ nervous system & healing practices
✨ body awareness tools

✨ breathwork & emotional support
✨ health and wellness tips
✨ holistic guidance for body, mind & heart connection

If this speaks to you, I would love for you to join us.
